Three Mercer Island All-Star Teams Start State Tournament This Weekend
After taking home district titles last weekend, three Mercer Island Little League All-Star Teams are preparing to begin the state tournament this weekend.
Mercer Island's recent run of success at the Little League level continued this past weekend, with three different baseball age groups taking home district titles. Now the trio of all-star teams will test their talents in state tournaments that begin this weekend.
Two of three teams will be competing for the chance to advance to the regional and then national levels. The "juniors" division (13-14 year-olds) and the 10-11 year old divisions can advance past the state tournament, while play for the 9-10 year-olds ends at the state level.
9-10 division

The 9-10 year old division state tournament starts this Saturday at Hartman park in Redmond. The Mercer Island team will start play on Saturday morning at 9 a.m. against the District 13 champions, Spokane South. If the team wins, they will advance to play the District 1 champions from Pacific Little League on Sunday morning at 9 a.m. Follow the teams progress here.
10-11 division

The 10-11 year-old Mercer Island All-Stars advanced to the state tournament by sweeping through the District 9 tournament, beating Bellevue West 4-3 in the championship game. The team starts state tournament play against District 11 champions Sedro-Wooley on Saturday at noon at Salnave Park in Cheney. Follow the teams progress here.
13-14 Division
The "juniors" division All-Stars are coming off a district tournament in which it survived three straight do-or-die games, including two wins over Bellevue to take the championship. The team starts play on Sunday at 9 a.m. at Evans Park in Arlington against the District 12 champions. Follow the teams progress here.
