• U.S. 2 travelers, prepare for Sultan roundabout (snoho.com) — If you drive U.S. 2 through Monroe, expect years of construction as WSDOT upgrades a 15-mile stretch between Monroe and Gold Bar, adding rumble strips, no-passing zones, and wider intersections in town. Nearly every U.S. 2 intersection inside Monroe city limits will get new truck aprons and improved crosswalk markings, while a new roundabout in Sultan kicks off the broader safety and congestion relief effort.
• Pacific NorthWest Allied Grocery Stores October Contract Action Team Meetings — UFCW 3000 (ufcw3000.org) — Union grocery workers in Monroe can join a Pacific NorthWest Allied Grocery Stores contract action team meeting at Alfy's on U.S. 2 the evening of October 20. Additional sessions across Washington, from Ferndale to Spokane, give members multiple chances to hear updates, ask questions, and connect with their UFCW 3000 representatives about ongoing contract efforts.
• Prep boys tennis: Snohomish, Shorecrest edge opponents (heraldnet.com) — Monroe High's boys tennis team fell 6-1 to Cascade, with Elias Funston earning the Bearcats' lone win in Wesco 3A/2A North play. The roundup also highlights close battles for Snohomish, Shorecrest, and other league rivals, giving Monroe fans context on how their team stacks up across the conference.
