📰 News we're reading

• Rescue Rocks raises over $100K for Team Okanogan Animal Rescue (qcherald.com) — A major regional fundraiser just brought in over $100,000 to support Team Okanogan Animal Rescue's work with pets and families in Okanogan County. The nonprofit uses these funds for emergency vet care, spay-neuter, vaccinations, microchipping, and pet food assistance in a county with no public animal shelter, helping thousands of local animals stay healthy and in their homes.

• State Fire Mobilization supports 12 incidents in North Central Washington (leavenworthecho.com) — Okanogan County is one of the main focuses of Washington's All-Risk Mobilization Program this wildfire season, with state-backed support for the Hamilton, B and O, Kaiser Canyon, and Sinlahekin fires. The program sends extra firefighters and resources when local departments are overwhelmed and covers eligible costs, helping Okanogan agencies manage large, fast-moving incidents without bearing the full financial burden.

• Murray Leads WA Delegation in Supporting Governor's Request for Major Disaster Declaration for Individual Assistance for Devastating Wildfires in Washington State (senate.gov) — Federal lawmakers from Washington are backing the governor's request for a major disaster declaration to help residents hit by this summer's wildfires, including those in Okanogan County. Massive fires like Kaiser Canyon and Sinlahekin burned more than 350,000 acres in the county, destroying homes and displacing families, and the delegation is pressing the president to unlock individual assistance for rebuilding.
