Prosecutors say Diaz was robbed of a necklace and shot while walking with his girlfriend, and local school leaders are urging the community to support his grieving family and classmates.
• Democrat House candidate accused of refusing breathalyzer, charged with DUI (lynnwoodtimes.com subscription) — Parkland residents are represented in a closely watched 29th District race where challenger Krista Perez, backed by major unions, now faces a DUI charge tied to a five-car crash in Tacoma. The case could influence her bid to unseat incumbent Rep. Melanie Morgan of Parkland in November.
