• Prosser Names Interim Police Chief (610kona.com) — Prosser has appointed Sergeant Scott Orate as interim police chief while Chief John Markus takes medical leave, ensuring daily operations and community policing continue without interruption. City officials say Orate will work closely with staff and administration to maintain professional, responsive service. They add that Markus, who has led the department for about two and a half years, is expected to return when able. 
• Economic prosperity is tied to housing affordability, WA Lt. Gov. says (spokesman.com) — Prosser is part of a regional housing crunch, with 51 new single-family home permits issued so far this year as Tri-Cities leaders push for more construction. Washington’s lieutenant governor toured the area, stressing that housing availability now directly affects employers’ ability to recruit workers and keep the local economy growing. Rising prices and limited starter homes are making it harder for residents across the region to buy.
