• WSU Opens 66,288-Square-Foot Schweitzer Engineering Hall (constructionowners.com) — Washington State University has opened the new 66,288‑square‑foot Schweitzer Engineering Hall in Pullman, creating a central hub for engineering and architecture students on campus. The $80 million facility brings classrooms, makerspaces, and student support services together and anchors WSU's long‑term engineering and design district expansion, including new utility infrastructure that will support future growth in town.
• Washington State University releases statement on passage of Protecting College Sports Act (kxly920.com) — Washington State University in Pullman is applauding the U.S. Senate's passage of the Protecting College Sports Act, calling it a turning point for student-athletes nationwide. University leaders say the bill could bring more consistent rules and long-term stability to college sports, and they're pledging to work with Congress to shape the final legislation to better reflect student and institutional needs.
• WSU researchers use 'citizen science' to understand how grasses adapt to their environment (wsu.edu) — WSU researchers in Pullman helped show how genes controlling flowering time let grasses like switchgrass dodge extreme heat and cold, using both field trials and citizen‑science photos. Their findings could guide better conservation and biofuel production while showcasing how public image databases and AI tools can power large‑scale plant research from right here in Pullman.
