14-Year-Old Arrested For DUI After High Speed Chase In Puyallup
Washington State Patrol said speeds hit 100 mph when a teenage girl led them on a chase over State Route 512.
PUYALLUP, WA — A 14-year-old girl led troopers on a high-speed chase through Puyallup Friday morning, coming to a stop only after a spike strip was deployed, according to Washington State Patrol. Troopers first spotted the SUV speeding on 112th Street East, near the Puyallup Costco, at 12:25 a.m. When the trooper attempted a traffic stop, the driver sped away.
WSP said the chase led troopers onto State Route 512, and speeds hit 100 mph. Troopers deployed a spike strip on the exit to 94th Avenue East, and the SUV came to a stop on the backside of South Hill Mall. Troopers said two teenage girls got out of the vehicle and ran away, but both were caught. One of the teens had minor injuries after falling during the chase. The passenger, also a 14-year-old girl, had been reported missing and was released to her parents at the scene.
The vehicle's driver was booked into Remann Hall on suspicion of DUI and felony eluding. Troopers said the pursuit lasted about six minutes altogether.
