WALLER, WA — The Pierce County Sheriff's Department is reporting two young adults were killed when their car rolled in the Waller area early Thursday morning.

According to the sheriff's department, deputies saw a 1994 Honda Civic speeding on 96th Street in Tacoma and had tried to pull it over for a traffic stop, but it sped off going over 100 miles per hour, and officers lost track of the car.

Shortly after that, at around 2:45 a.m. the Honda was speeding down 72nd Street E in Waller near Puyallup, and was heading east in the 6000 block of the road when it took a curve too quickly and spun out. After losing control, the Civic slid onto the shoulder of the road, rolled through a ditch and up into a yard before hitting a large tree.
