2 Die In Separate Pierce County Crashes 5 Miles Apart
A 58-year-old woman and a 24-year-old man died in separate crashes in Parkland and Frederickson

FREDERICKSON, WA - Two people died in separate crashes in Pierce County Friday night and early Saturday morning. The two crashes happened near each other in an area between SR 512 and SR 7 east of Spanaway.
The first crash happened just before midnight Friday when a 16-year-old blew a stop sign near 128th Street East and Vickery Avenue East. The 16-year-old's 1999 Chevrolet Silvervado hit the passenger side of a Honda Accord. The 68-year-old woman inside was dead at the scene.
The 16-year-old was not impaired. However, police said that two separate drunk drivers tried to drive through the crash scene during the investigation. They were both arrested.

The second crash happened around 2 a.m. along the 12000 block of 200th Street East. A 24-year-old man lost control of his GMC Sierra, and the pickup rolled and crashed into a utility pole. He was pronounced dead at the scene. A 24-year-old woman in the passenger seat was injured and taken to the hospital.
Police did not immediately know whether drugs or alcohol was a factor in the crash.
