44 More Coronavirus Cases In Pierce County; 2 Additional Deaths
The Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department confirmed the county's 13th and 14th deaths linked to the coronavirus outbreak Tuesday.
TACOMA, WA — Pierce County health officials confirmed another 44 cases of the new coronavirus Tuesday afternoon and reported two additional deaths linked to COVID-19. Lab tests have confirmed at least 760 cases in Pierce County since the outbreak began, the third-highest in Washington, and 14 deaths.
The most recent patients to die from COVID-19 complications were a man in his 40s from Spanaway and a Tacoma woman in her 70s with underlying medical conditions.
According to the state department of health, 8,682 cases have been confirmed across Washington, and 394 people have died.

As of April 5, 8,870 Pierce County residents have been tested for the virus. According to the health department, the state's database continues to experience delays in reporting, and a high number of tests are classified as unassigned. As work continues to upgrade the state's reporting system, updated information on the number of negative tests is unavailable.
