911 Audio Of Pitbull Mauling Of UPS Driver Released
UPS driver Kevin Backlund was attacked in mid-September while making a delivery at a home along 116th Street East.

PUYALLUP, WA - The law firm representing a UPS driver who was attacked in mid-September by four pitbulls has released 911 audio of the incident. During the 911 call, Kevin Backlund, 59, asks for help to come quickly, and the dogs can be heard barking in the background.

The attack took place on Sept. 13 at a property along 116th Street East, which has a Puyallup address but is in unincorporated Pierce County. Backlund entered the property to deliver a package when the four dogs set upon him. He was rescued when a battalion chief from Orting Valley fire drove his vehicle through the gate and grabbed Backlund.

The law firm representing Backlund, Seattle's Davis Law Group, released the audio after learning a media outlet was planning make it public, according to the firm. 911 calls are public records, and it's routine for media outlets to request them after a serious incident.
Backlund has declined to speak to the media about the attack. But he is planning to appear at a hearing in November on whether the dogs that attacked him should be declared "dangerous."
