Altrusa of Puyallup Valley receives grant to help foster children

Would you like to help your community? Do you like to volunteer? Please join us at our next meeting!

Altrusa of Puyallup Valley, a community service organization, received a $2,000 grant from Altrusa International to partner with the Wishing Well Foundation of Pierce County. The Wishing Well Foundation helps over 1300 foster children with basic needs. When the foster children go into foster care a lot of times they won't have any clothes, or they have come from a home where drugs are involved and their clothes have to be disposed of. The social worker refers their foster parent to the Wishing Well Foundation. They are allowed to come shop for clothes, shoes, pajamas, coats, underwear, tops, etc three times a year!

Altrusa of Puyallup Valley started helping them with suitcases to put their belongings in. When we found out how great the needs were for the foster children of Pierce County, we applied for a grant. We also received $250 from Columbia Bank and a $25 gift card from Costco to help with our project!

Our Altrusa Club would like to continue to help the Wishing Well Foundation and the foster children of Pierce County. We are looking for companies or individuals who would like to volunteer their time and/or donate money.
