AT&T to Demonstrate Dangers of Distracted Driving Using Virtual Reality Simulations
AT&T will demonstrate the dangers of texting and driving using virtual reality simulations at Lincoln Square Mall in Bellevue
AT&T will demonstrate the dangers of texting and driving this weekend using virtual reality simulations. Using virtual reality headsets that safely recreates the “eyes-off-the-road and hands-off-the-wheel” experience, AT&T will provide free public demonstrations at Lincoln Square Mall in Bellevue on June 18 from 11:00 am to 5:00 p.m. Also, a Washington State Trooper will speak about the dangers of distracted driving.

Of that 49% of commuters who self-reported texting while driving, 98% of them admitted that sending a text or email while driving wasn’t safe. As part of our mission to educate and inform people across the country about the dangers of distracted driving, the AT&T It Can Wait virtual reality simulator demonstrates firsthand how dangerous it is to take your eyes off the road and look at a phone. It’s an immersive experience, delivered through new VR (Virtual Reality) devices.

It Can Wait is a national movement urging drivers to visit www.ItCanWait.com. They can pledge to keep their eyes on the road, not on their phone on the site. Then, they can share their pledge via Twitter (#ItCanWait) and Facebook. The campaign started by focusing on not texting and driving. It has now expanded to the broader dangers of smartphone use behind the wheel. Since its launch in 2010, it has helped drive awareness of the dangers of texting while driving to about 90% for all audiences surveyed, and inspired more than 7 million pledges not to text and drive.
