Bad Puyallup Traffic Day: Shaw Road Closed, Spring Fair Starts
Puyallup drivers should pack their patience today as two major events converge to slow traffic.

PUYALLUP, WA - Two major events begin Thursday that will have long-lasting traffic impacts. The Washington State Spring Fair kicks off Thursday with events starting around 10 a.m. And, a six to eight month closure of Shaw Road begins.
The Spring Fair is temporary, lasting only until Sunday. The spring event won't bring as many people downtown as the summer fair, but expect heavier traffic all weekend.
The bigger issue is the beginning of Shaw Road construction. The city will be installing a left turn lane, and Shaw will be closed between 23rd Avenue Southeast south to the Manorwood area. The closure begins at 8 a.m. Thursday.
