Black Bear 'Yogi' Appears In Puyallup: Police Blotter
Puyallup's own Yogi bear made an appearance over the weekend, according to police.

PUYALLUP, WA - A black bear was spotted over the weekend in Puyallup, and local police have nicknamed him "Yogi." The bear walked by a home along the 1800 block of Highlands Drive on Saturday night just after 8:30 p.m. Police and the state Department of Fish and Wildlife responded, but couldn't locate the wandering bear.
Black bears are extremely common in Western Washington, but if you're unsure about what to do about them, the state DFW has some good tips (and remember, we don't have grizzly bears in the Puget Sound area; here might be one or two near the Canadian border near Mt. Baker, however).
Here are the other incidents from Saturday's police blotter:

Vehicle Prowl, Attempted Identity Theft
700 blk 21 ST SE
Yesterday between 1245 and 1600 hours a staff member’s unlocked vehicle was entered and her purse that was under her seat was stolen. The thief left her car keys under her car but took the purse. An attempt to use her debit card at an unknown gas station was unsuccessful due to the unknown suspect not knowing the victim’s zip code. The victim believes the thief was possibly a student due to the fact her car keys were left behind for her and several students assisted her yesterday with unloading her vehicle. She didn’t know the names of the students who assisted her.

Yesterday around 1800 hours the 92 year old victim was at Safeway on E. Main when he was approached by a white male and female in their forties. They convinced the victim to go with them to his house, at which time the female asked him for his debit card which he provided and she photographed. The victim started becoming wise to what was occurring and asked them to leave. He then discovered $600 missing from his wallet. The couple also had a young child, approximately four years old, with them and were associated with a white Ford F150 that the victim believed was around a 2008 model.

We received a report of an intoxicated man with a rifle walking around the side of the RP’s house and then continuing on to Safeway. We located a male near the north doors with a lever action rifle. The rifle ended up being an antique pellet gun he just purchased from an antique shop. He was not threatening anybody with the pellet gun and was extremely intoxicated, waiting outside the store for his wife who was inside.
