Meet Tiffany Elliott, Puyallup Patch Contributor

Meet Puyallup patch.com contributor, Tiffany Elliott, a nine-year veteran in both journalistic and creative writing.

Hello Readers!

Before I jump into my rants, raves and takes on the issues involving the citizens of the greater Puyallup Valley, I would like to take this first post to share a bit about myself.

As you know already, my name is Tiffany Elliott, and I've been writing both journalism and fiction in various forms of media since college as both Tiffany Elliott and Tiffany Richards.

Like most writers, I started out small, submitting poems and short stories to the Lakeridge Junior High (now Lakeridge Middle School) school newspaper. But it wasn't until I attended Green River Community College as a freshman that I was bitten by the journalism bug.

With my combined desire to share information with others and my skills in creative as well as non-fiction writing to author both feature articles for as well two straight-news columns, "Answers for Transfers" and "The Richards Wrap-Up" column covering student government for school's newspaper, The Current. My latter column was granted two student programs awards, for 2004-2005 and 2005-2006 school years.

Since then, I've written for various newspapers and publications in the South Sound area, including The Tacoma Weekly, The Federal Way Mirror, The Puyallup Herald, The Weekly Breeze and Wake-Up 253.

During this period, I also earned my Bachelor in Arts degree in Interdisciplinary Arts and Science, with a concentration in Communications, from the University of Washington Tacoma.

I still write fiction, carrying many of the skills I utilize as a journalist - such as information gathering, interviewing, knowing who to contact for specific projects, to name a few - into the creative world. I have written four books and one screenplay, all in various stages of revision, and several short stories.

When I'm not writing or searching for a new topic, I'm at my home in Bonney Lake with my husband and our soon-to-be newborn son.

I look forward to not only writing this blog, but also hearing from you.
