PUYALLUP, WA - A Puyallup man shot a carjacker early Friday morning during an attempted robbery along Valley Avenue. The carjacker was shot in the abdomen, but his wound was described as "non-life threatening."

The incident happened just before 8 a.m. Friday near the intersection of Meridian and Valley Avenue. The 33-year-old carjacker approached the 24-year-old victim with the intent of assaulting and stealing the victim's car, police said.

The victim fired several shots at the carjacker. When police got to the scene, they found the carjacker at a nearby convenience store. The victim was detained by police and brought to the police station for questioning. Police said it was too early in the investigation to determine what kind of charges the men might face, if any.
