Search Suspended For Man Missing In Puyallup River
A 45-year-old man was fishing with his family Monday when he slipped and fell into the river.

PUYALLUP, WA - Emergency crews Monday night suspended the search for a man who fell into the Puyallup River earlier in the day. The search will resume on Tuesday. According to Puyallup police, the 45-year-old man was fishing with his family when he slipped and fell into the river. The accident was initially reported around 5 p.m. Monday. The man reportedly was not wearing a life jacket.
The U.S. Coast Guard sent a helicopter to help emergency crews search for the man, and the Sumner police department is handling the search. The Coast Guard helicopter was helping search for the man from the air while swift river crews searched the river and the shoreline.
The region has seen a number of water rescues over the Memorial Day weekend. Two canoeists went missing in the Skykomish River Monday afternoon, but were found safe along the shoreline. On Saturday, a raft with four people floating the Stilliguamish River near Arlington popped, stranding the passengers. They were rescued successfully.
