Off-Duty Officer Injured In Puyallup Shooting
Officials said the officer was rushed to the hospital Sunday morning with life-threatening injuries.
PUYALLUP, WA — An off-duty Puyallup police officer was shot and injured Sunday morning while attempting to intervene in an apparent burglary, according to the police department. Officials announced the shooting in a social media post shortly after 8 a.m.
Officials said the shooting happened downtown, near 11th Street Northwest and River Road. Several blocks around the shooting scene remained blocked Sunday morning as detectives continued their investigation.
Puyallup Police Department detectives are on scene to conduct the investigation several roads in the area are also closed at this time. Our thoughts and prayers are with the off-duty officer and his family at this time.

According to The News Tribune, medics from Central Pierce Fire and Rescue treated the officer for a gunshot wound to the abdomen and rushed him to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Information on the suspected shooter was not immediately released.
