Emerald Queen Casino To Reopen Monday
Emerald Queen Casino will reopen to business Monday, May 18, but with a few new safety restrictions.
PUYALLUP — The Emerald Queen Casino will reopen its doors on Monday, but when it does it will have a host of new coronavirus-related safety restrictions and regulations.
For customers and gamblers, this means several major changes:
- The number of people allowed inside will be limited to less than 30 percent of the casino's regular max capacity. Customers are advised to bring cell phones in case they are put on a waiting list to enter.
- Sick visitors will be told to stay home until they're feeling better.
- The casino will take the temperature of everyone who comes inside. Anyone with a temperature over 100 will be asked to leave and come back when they're healthy.
- Patrons are expected to wear a mask or face covering and gloves. Smoking will still be allowed on the floor and in designated smoking areas, but masks will need to be worn as much as possible.
The casino says they've made a variety of changes to keep the floor safe, including using hospital-grade cleaners to "continuously clean the casino" and scour high-touch surfaces. Hand sanitizers will also be placed throughout the casino and anyone who is concerned about an unclean area or machine can ask staff to wipe it down for them.

Additionally, food service is being limited to the Paradise Deli and the hotel is remaining closed. More food options and the hotel will reopen as the casino feels more comfortable managing them.
The new Emerald Queen Casino in Tacoma, whose grand opening had been delayed by the pandemic, will open some time early next month.
