Grandmother Of Graham-Kapowsin Shooting Suspect Turns Him In
Prosecutor Mark Lindquist has charged a 16-year-old with the shooting that seriously wounded two Graham-Kapowsin students last week.

TACOMA, WA - Pierce County Prosecutor Mark Lindquist has charged a 16-year-old Graham-Kapowsin High School in connection to the shooting at the school last Tuesday. The student's grandmother called police to report him after seeing her grandson on the news.
Ronald Ackerson, 16, surrendered to authorities Monday at Remann Hall. He is facing two counts of first-degree assault, drive-by shooting, and unlawful possession of a gun. Ackerson will be tried as an adult because of the seriousness of the alleged crimes, Lindquist said.
One of the Graham-Kapowsin students shot last week, a 17-year-old, was hit in the abdomen and was initially in critical condition. The other student, a 16-year-old, was hit in the leg.

Lindquist said the shooting happened after a feud erupted between a group of Graham-Kapowsin students. That led to two students, identified by the initials P.W. and D.B., agreeing to fight each other after school last Tuesday.
D.B. arrived at the fight location - in an area north of the high school - and allegedly found Ackerson, P.W., and a third student waiting near a car. Instead of fighting, the three allegedly drove off with Ackerson firing shots out the window of the car.

The other two students in the car were held at Remann Hall overnight last Tuesday, but have been released without charges.
“We have zero tolerance for gun violence at or near our schools,” Lindquist said in a press release. “We’re committed to protecting our youth.”
