KeyBank Employees Volunteer at Puyallup's Mother Earth Farm

A group of volunteers from KeyBank weeded, planted and harvested at Mother Earth Farm in Puyallup, as part of the company’s 24th annual nationwide day of service, Neighbors Make the Difference Day. Each year, employees leave their bank offices at noon, change from business attire into jeans and t-shirts, and work on community projects across the country.

"It really shows the values of a company that KeyBank would set aside an entire afternoon, company-wide, for volunteering in communities around the country,” said Jeff Klein, Development Director for Emergency Food Network.

“KeyBank volunteers made a huge difference planting lettuce starts at our Mother Earth Farm and repackaging oats in our warehouse. The seedlings planted at Mother Earth Farm will grow up nice and healthy, and on the day of harvest, Emergency Food Network will deliver the produce, along with food from our warehouse, directly to our 60 partner food programs in neighborhoods around Pierce County.”

Neighbors Make the Difference Day is one of Key’s most visible community projects and one of the largest corporate volunteer projects in America. On the day, more than half Key’s workforce -- approximately 7,500 employees -- from Maine to Alaska will be making a difference in their respective communities. Their effort adds up to more than 30,000 employee volunteer hours and almost $900,000 in salary equivalent. In the past 24 years, Key employees have given more than half a million volunteer hours through Neighbors Day.
