Man Hitchhikes To Puyallup From Texas, Jailed For Petty Crime

He hitchhiked 2,000 miles to Puyallup. Police gave him one last ride - to jail.

PUYALLUP, WA - A man who hitchhiked from Texas to Puyallup was given one last ride recently - by local police to the Puyallup jail.

The man was caught writing graffiti on a utility box near the corner of 7th Street Southeast and 23rd Avenue Southeast. The 26-year-old denied that he vandalized the utility box, but police took him to jail on a charge of malicious mischief.

An Officer contacted a 17-year old female inside her vehicle. She admitted to having 13 grams of Marijuana. Report to Remann Hall. She was released to her mother.

Between 10:30 am and 1:30 pm someone broke into the victim’s vehicle and stole her laptop. The victim does not know how the suspect got into the vehicle. The laptop was entered as stolen.

Victim believed she was purchasing a motor home and sent the seller $4,500 in eBay gift cards. The motorhome was supposed to be shipped to her, but never showed up. Victim attempted to contact the seller, but everything was disconnected.

1994 Honda Accord was located in a parking space where another vehicle was parked and stolen (1813102222). It appears the suspect(s) swapped this vehicle for the fresh stolen. Prints were attempted.

The victim’s mountain bike was stolen out of their garage sometime around 8:30 pm.

Sometime between 11:00 pm and 1:00 am, the victim’s front license plate was stolen from her 2000 Honda Accord. The rear plate was taken for destruction.

2100 Block of W Stewart Ave
A 27-year old female was driving west on Stewart when she drifted to the right and collided with a parked vehicle. An officer responded and completed the investigation, which resulted in her being arrested for DUI. She was processed at our jail and blew a .227 BAC.

A 36-year old male stole two chainsaws from Home Depot and fled in a vehicle. An officer caught the vehicle on SR 512 where the suspect exited and fled. The officer caught him. The suspect lied about his name and we called his bluff. Mr. Liar Liar Pants on Fire was booked.

A 16-year old female was contacted and arrested on a confirmed warrant. She had Marijuana on her person. She was booked.

Sometime between 10:45 am and 11:02 am on 05/12, the victim’s wallet containing money, a social security card, and a WA DL was stolen from the victim’s vehicle through the open sun roof. No suspects or video.

Sometime between 5:30 pm and 7:30 pm on 05/11, the victim’s purse was stolen from her vehicle which was parked in front of the school. The suspect(s) broke out the front passenger window. The suspect(s) used the victim’s BECU credit card at three separate locations in Puyallup. The victim did not have much information on the transactions but is working with her bank.

The victim went to a casino with a male and ended up winning several hundred dollars. She took him to a parking lot near the old Bratwear location where two other males joined him in taking her money at gunpoint and assaulting her. The three suspects fled on foot rather than taking their vehicle, which was left in the parking lot. K-9 tracked and located two of the suspects hiding in a marshy area. One of the suspects immediately gave up but the other suspect would not show the officer his hands. The firearm used in the crime had not been located and K-9 was sent in. The suspect was taken into custody with minor superficial wounds on his arm where K-9 made contact. The third subject was not located. Nice work!

A male stole items from the store and when LP was attempting to apprehend him, he pushed one of the LP officers down. The assault was forceful enough to cause scrapes and the victim’s hand and elbow. The suspect fled in a vehicle. Officers located a DOL photo that is believed to be the suspect based on video. A photo-montage was created and will be presented to the victim/witness later. Two white male suspects were seen by the witness breaking into the business. The two fled the scene. The witness described the truck as a “black Chevy truck with an auxiliary light bar mounted to the grill”. The vehicle/suspects were not located. They did not get through the second set of doors due to the audible alarm sounding.

3908 10th ST SE/Sound Family Medicine
Three juvenile males were seen walking away from Sound Family Medicine and took off when an officer happened upon them. They were contacted and further investigation showed they had been at the business breaking plastic dome covers to the exterior lights. The three were identified and released to parents. The report was sent off to Remann Hall for charging.

An unknown suspect broke into this property owner’s guest house around 4:00 am this morning by breaking a window. A clock was stolen. House was searched but no one found.

A 18-year old male pulled into the witness’s driveway with a flat tire. He appeared to be intoxicated. Two officers responded and investigated the male for DUI. He was arrested and taken in for BAC, which was .163/.157. He was booked and the vehicle impounded.

A male and female suspect were seen inside Walmart attempting to take items. The LP officer contacted them, recovered the items, and removed them from the store. The suspects then stole a silver 2001 Ford Taurus form the parking lot. Good video of the incident and footage of the suspects.

A 23-year old male was angry because he could not sleep and punched a 32-year old male twice. Charge was added.

A male was with his girlfriend, who has a protection order against the male. Per the male, he and the female were that they were trying to work things out. He was booked.

A 23-year old female was stopped for traffic violations. She consented to a search and Methamphetamine and Heroin were located. She was turned over to narcotic detectives.

A 32-year old male was seen speeding behind the station at more than double the speed limit. An officer was able to catch up to the vehicle after several blocks. When contacted, the suspect stated “I had one too many”. He was arrested for DUI and processed. His BAC was .117. He was booked and his vehicle impounded. Judging by the BAC level he had more than just one too many.

An Officer presented a photo-montage to the LP from this case, which occurred on 05/12. The suspect, 25-year old male, was positively identified and probable cause established. Attempts to locate the suspect were unsuccessful. Case forwarded for review.

3000 Block of 5th ST E/Bradley Lake Park
The victim’s front passenger window was broken out sometime between 5:45 pm and 7:55 pm. The suspect(s) took the victim’s purse containing numerous personal items, to include some debit/credit cards. Her capital one card was used at Dicks Sporting Goods.
