A 24-year-old woman is recovering at a Puyallup hospital after a fall near the top of Mt. Rainier.

PUYALLUP, WA - A 24-year-old woman is recovering at a Puyallup hospital after a fall near the top of Mount Rainier on Saturday, according to multiple reports. The woman was descending the mountain near the Emmons Glacier when she fell an estimated 100 feet into a crevasse. The woman was rescued from the crevasse on Sunday morning.
The woman spent the night on the mountain with two rangers and was flown by helicopter around 11 a.m. Sunday to Good Samaritan Hospital in Puyallup, according to the Tacoma News-Tribune. The woman was being treated for cuts, back pain, and pelvic injuries.
Although scores of people summit the mountain each year - and many more hike at lower elevations - there have been some deadly accidents over the last few years.
