NYPD Arrest Suspect In Puyallup Man's Stabbing

The stabbing happened in Manhattan on Dec. 18 after the Puyallup man had proposed to his girlfriend in Central Park.

PUYALLUP, WA - Police in New York City have arrested a suspect in connection to the stabbing of a Puyallup man there earlier this month.

Police on Wednesday arrested 20-year-old Steven Tlapanco on suspicion of attempted murder, assault, and criminal possession of a weapon in connection to the stabbing.

Connor Rasmussen, 23, of Puyallup, was on vacation with his family in New York City when the stabbing happened. Near 2 a.m. on Dec. 18, he was walking with a friend in Midtown Manhattan when Tlapanco allegedly ran up and stabbed Rasmussen in the back of the head. Just days earlier, Rasmussen had proposed to his girlfriend, Jordan Asher, 22, in Central Park.
