New Farmers Market about to open this Friday!
The Orting Valley Farmers Market will open Friday June 21, at North Park in Orting. This market helps better serve the communities in many areas of East Pierce County. Opening day will include activities for everyone, including free eye exams, a bounce house for the kids, a clown, face painting, even henna tattoos!
Located right on the popular Foothills Trail and with the incredible view of Mount Rainier in Orting, this is the only Friday evening market in Pierce County and a wonderful way to kick off your weekend.
With only local products available at this market, it better serves our local small farms and craftspeople. You will find farm fresh produce, eggs, meats, fuits and berries, baked goods, food, plants, locally handcrafted items and even educational sessions at the market with topics such as food preservation, gardening, and nutrition. You can stop and shop here on the way home or meet your friends and family at the market for dinner, shopping, and entertainment.
Demonstrations are scheduled throughout the season. On June 28 there will be a belly dance troupe starting at 6 pm, for example, and on July 5 a blacksmithing demonstration.
