Police Credit Citizen Tips In Puyallup Area Fraud Arrests

Multiple citizens reported two suspects to police, and they were later arrested driving a stolen van.

PUYALLUP, WA - The Pierce County Sheriff's Office says tips from citizens helped officers track down two suspects wanted for fraud. One of the two suspects had allegedly used a stolen credit card at the McLendon's hardware store along Canyon Road.

Sometime around March 1, someone broke into a car at the Canyon Park Apartments along 109th Street Court East. The prowler took credit cards, cash, a DVD player, and a laptop from the car.

Later in the morning on March 1, a man used the credit cards to buy bolt cutters and other items at the McLendon's (the same man used the cards at a local Jack In The Box around that same time).

Police pulled surveillance video from the McLendon's and asked for help from the public identifying the suspects. The suspects were caught driving a stolen van near Graham on Tuesday afternoon.

The man seen in the McLendon's surveillance video told police he "didn't remember using a card." He and another man in the car were arrested for possession of stolen property and identity theft.
