Police ID Puyallup Man Killed In SR 167 Hit-and-Run Crash

The fatal four-car hit-and-run accident happened Tuesday night along SR 167 in Tacoma.

PUYALLUP, WA - A 45-year-old Puyallup man was killed Tuesday night in a hit-and-run car crash along SR 167 in Tacoma.

Washington State Patrol identified the deceased as Edwin K. Miller. Miller was driving northbound along SR 167 when a vehicle attempted to cross the road, according to state police. He swerved to avoid hitting the vehicle, and struck another vehicle traveling southbound; Miller's Toyota Camry spun and hit a guardrail, and was hit by a fourth vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle that Miller was trying to avoid fled the scene. State police were searching for the green 2007 Saturn Vue, which may have been headed to Federal Way.

The driver of the first vehicle that Miller hit, 53-year-old Michael Tollkuehn of Gig Harbor, was not injured. The fourth vehicle that hit Miller's Camry was driven by Bonnie Cavanaugh, 57, of Auburn. She was injured and transported to Tacoma General Hospital.

The stretch of SR 167 where the accident took place is in Tacoma near Gratzer Road East. Miller and Cavanaugh's cars blocked the highway, and an investigation closed the road for almost four hours on Tuesday night.
