Puyallup Man Convicted For Killing Wife In Drunk Driving Crash

A jury has convicted a man for driving drunk and causing a crash that killed his 52-year-old wife, per several reports.

PUYALLUP, WA — A Puyallup man has been convicted of DUI vehicular homicide for crashing his car while under the influence and killing his wife, according to several reports.

Jeffrey Lepley was convicted by a jury in the Pierce County Superior Court Tuesday, the Associated Press reports. Prosecutors say Lepley had been driving his Jaguar drunk the afternoon of July 14, 2019, when he crashed on Pioneer Way East. His wife, 52-year-old Trisha Lepley, was killed. She had been in the passenger seat at the time of the crash.

According to The News Tribune, Lepley admitted to deputies he had been drinking at the time of the crash, but the toxicology report didn't arrive until March 2020. When it did, the report showed Lepley had had a blood-alcohol content of 0.19 percent, more than double the legal limit.
