Puyallup Police Blotter: Thursday Incidents
A happy ending after a student's backpack is stolen, a missing mother and granddaughter, and that Pierce College carjacking.

PUYALLUP, WA - Puyallup police have released the police blotter from Thursday and it contains a number of interesting incidents, including the case of a stolen backpack that a police officer was able to return to a student.
Missing Person
A mother called from Phoenix, AZ and was looking for information on the whereabouts of her 22 year old daughter and 2 year old granddaughter. She had been living out of her car in the Puyallup area throughout 2016 and had been dating a male who is a heavy drug user. Mom has not heard from her in several months. Subjects were entered as missing.
Fraud
100 blk E Pioneer
A female cashed a fake check at the downtown branch for $8800. She then went to the East Main branch and attempted to cash another one for $9000. The next teller got suspicious and called to verify. The suspect was still there when officers arrived. An Detective responded and interviewed the suspect and is obtaining information on a criminal ring working that is area that the female suspect is involved with.

Car Jacking with an Assault with a Knife
Pierce College
A male flagged down a female driving on the west side road of the campus. She stopped for him and he pulled out a knife and ordered her out of the car. She went to defend herself and was stabbed in her hand by the suspect. She then got out of the car and the suspect attempted to take the car, but could not get it going (possibly due to it being a manual transmission). The suspect fled into the woods to the north of the college. Containment was set up and Lakewood K9 along with Guardian One responded to assist. Guardian One located a possible hot spot in the woods and led officers and K9 to the location where the suspect was located under a log. He was contacted by K9 and transported to Good Sam for his injuries. The victim’s injuries were not life threatening.
Fraud
4300 blk Crystal Ln Lp
Victim reported that someone opened up a Direct TV account in his name down in Texas. There is no suspect information. Report to Detectives.

Stolen Vehicle Recovery
200 blk Rainier Ave, Seattle
SPD recovered a Puyallup stole 1996 Honda. There is no suspect information and the vehicle was completely stripped. RO was notified.
Theft from Vehicle, Identity Theft
400 blk 15th Ave SE
Between 1600 and 1900 hours someone broke into the victim’s vehicle stealing her backpack. Inside the backpack was a credit card that the suspect used at various locations. An Officer viewed the video and was able to determine a suspect. The Officer was able to convince the suspect to return the backpack, which he left at a location to be picked up. The backpack was returned to the owner, who was very happy since it contain all her school books. Report to Detectives.
Malicious Mischief
23rd Ave and Shaw Rd
Someone had placed several nails on 23rd Ave SE. One vehicle sustained tire damage. There are no suspects. An Officer spent some time sweeping the nails out of the roadway. Report to Detectives.
Felony Eluding, Collision, Recovery
3000 blk 5th St SE
An Officer initiated a pursuit on 5th St SE that ended with the vehicle colliding with a telephone pole at 5th St SE and 30th Ave. The vehicle, a 2017 Toyota Corolla, was stolen. The driver and passenger fled and were not located.
