Puyallup Residents Shelter In Place During Weekend Standoff
Puyallup police were engaged in a standoff with an armed man over the weekend in the downtown area.

PUYALLUP, WA — People living in a Puyallup neighborhood southeast of downtown were ordered to shelter in place for a brief time on Saturday afternoon during a police standoff with an armed suspect.
The incident was reported around 12:30 p.m. along 11th Avenue Southeast near 13th Street Southeast. An armed 49-year-old man who was the suspect in a domestic incident had barricaded himself in a home near there.
Police negotiators were able to talk the man into leaving the home. He was in police custody by around 1 p.m. He was taken to a local hospital for evaluation because he may have been under the influence of drugs, police said.

The 49-year old male suspect from our incident is believed to be under the influence of narcotics. After the suspect is evaluated at the hospital he will be booked into jail on domestic violence charges.
