Puyallup Woman Hurt In DUI Crash On SR 18

The crash happened early Sunday morning near Federal Way, and police suspect an intoxicated driver might be to blame.

FEDERAL WAY, WA - A Puyallup woman was injured in a rollover crash along SR 18 that happened early Sunday morning. The Puyallup woman was one of three cars involved in the crash, but police say that the driver of another vehicle may have caused the crash while driving under the influence. The crash closed SR 18 for more than four hours, police say.

The crash happened around 3:15 a.m. in the westbound lanes of SR 18 near Weyerhauser Way South. According to police, David Van Sickle, 23, of Federal Way, drifted into the lane Adeleye Omomukuyo, 57, of Puyallup, was driving in. Both vehicles flipped over and struck a third vehicle driven by Thomas Johnson, 36, of Tacoma.

Neither Van Sickle nor Johnson were injured, police say, but Omomukuyo was taken to Valley Medical Center for treatment.

The exact cause of the crash is still under investigation, but Van Sickle was taken to the King County Jail on suspicion of DUI and vehicular assault.
