Local Woman, 30, Killed In SR 512 Crash Identified

A 30-year-old Puyallup woman died early Wednesday after her car crashed into the back of semitrailer parked along SR 512.

PUYALLUP, WA - The person killed early Wednesday morning in a crash with a semitrailer along SR 512 has been identified as Kati Shackelford, 30, of Puyallup. According to state police, a semitrailer was parked at the gore point along SR 512 eastbound near the exit for SR 7 when Shackelford crashed her 2003 Volkswagen n GTI into the back of the truck.

The driver of the semi, Harbans Singh, 54, of Yuba City, Calif., was not injured. The crash is still under investigation, but Washington State Patrol is not at this time pursuing charges against Singh. He was pulled over checking his GPS, state patrol spokeswoman Brooke Bova said.

The crash happened at around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday.

After Shackelford's crash, a Puyallup woman crashed into a WSDOT vehicle that was tending to the accident scene. That woman is facing a vehicular assault charge, according to state patrol.

Eastbound SR 512 was closed for more than three hours due to both crashes.
