Puyallup Woman Rescued After Fall Near Lake Serene

The 49-year-old woman was hiking in the Cascades when she fell and injured her ankle.

GOLD BAR, WA - The Snohomish County Sheriff's search-and-rescue team rescued a 49-year-old Puyallup woman late Sunday night after she fell while hiking near Lake Serene in the Cascades. The woman fell and rolled her ankle, leaving her with a possible fracture and unable to continue along the trail.

The accident happened around 8 p.m. Sunday. Another hiker came across the woman and was able to call 911. The volunteer rescue crew carried the woman down the trail. She was then taken to a medical facility for treatment.

Lake Serene and Bridal Veil Falls are popular hikes along US 2 east of Monroe, but are known for having rocky terrain.
