A 24-year-old man murdered Sunday night was killed because his cousin thought he was the devil, according to police.

SOUTH HILL, WA - A 27-year-old man shot and killed his cousin Sunday night after smoking marijuana, becoming convinced that the cousin had turned into the devil, according to police.
The killing happened around 6 p.m. Sunday at a home just west of Thun Field. After the two men smoked marijuana, the 27-year-old pulled a gun and ordered his 24-year-old cousin to get on the ground, according to police.
"The suspect told detectives he thought his cousin was the devil, so he displayed a handgun and ordered his cousin to get on the floor. The victim and the suspect began to physically fight/wrestle throughout the house; during the fight the suspect fired multiple shots, striking the victim," the Pierce County Sheriff's Office wrote on Facebook.

The South Hill killing was the 13th in an unincorporated area of Pierce County so far in 2018. Hours later, a woman in her 60s would die in a shooting near Eatonville.
