Small Earthquake Hits South Of Puyallup
The quake struck late Sunday night near Elk Plain, according to the Pacific Northwest Seismic Network.

ELK PLAIN, WA - A magnitude 2.8 earthquake was measured Sunday night south of Elk Plain, according to the Pacific Northwest Seismic Network. The quake was detected around 11 p.m. near the intersection of Harts Lake Loop Road and 288th Street South.
The quake follows a rather large temblor detected near Mt. St. Helens last Wednesday. The magnitude 3.9 quake near Morton was followed by dozens of small aftershocks near the cone of Mt. St. Helens and nearby.
The earthquakes were centered southeast of Morton at a depth of 10 km below the earth's surface, PNSN said.

Seismologists have described similar activity in the region as normal for our area. The PNSN previously wrote about a swarm of quakes in the Entiat area in Eastern Washington.
