Social Media Company Contacts Puyallup Police To Stop Suicide
A man on the social media site Meet Me was threatening suicide, and the company reached out to police to intervene.

PUYALLUP, WA - An employee at a social media company recently intervened in a local man's suicide plans. The employee contacted Puyallup police after the man revealed to the employee he was having suicidal thoughts. Meet Me is chat service that describes itself as "the mobile version of the bar or coffeehouse."
After speaking with the Meet Me employee, a Puyallup office was able to identify the man. The man was planning suicide because "he had lost everything," the department reported.
The Meet Me employee continued to talk with the man, and offered him a crisis hotline to call. The man told the employee that he would assault any police officers who showed up to his home so they would shoot him. Puyallup police tried to contact the man via phone, but they were unable to reach him.

"As a department we want to help. We hope today these resources can help. We hope today and everyday that if you have reached a point where you are considering suicide that you know you can reach out and we along with many others will be there to help. We all must help. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone who has been impacted by a suicide," the department wrote on Facebook Sunday.
