State Suspends Good Samaritan Nurse's License

Cora Weberg was arrested last week in connection to infections of two Good Sam patients with Hepatitis C.

PUYALLUP, WA - The state Nursing Care Quality Assurance Commission has suspended the license of nurse Cora Weberg for "diversion of controlled substances." Weberg is the Good Samaritan nurse who was arrested last week on assault charges after two ER patients contracted Hepatitis C.

According to state officials, two patients Weberg administered pain medications to later tested positive for Hepatitis C. Weberg has since been released from the Pierce County Jail after her arrest on Friday.

"Charges say in December 2017, Cora Weberg administered hydromorphone and fentanyl, both controlled substances, to two patients in the emergency department at Good Samaritan Hospital in Puyallup. Both patients were later admitted to the emergency department with symptoms consistent with hepatitis and tested positive for Hepatitis C. Weberg has allegedly admitted to diverting fentanyl and hydromorphone," the state said in a statement announcing the license suspension.

"The Washington State Department of Health coordinated with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to complete genetic sequence testing of blood samples taken from patients and found that the Hepatitis C in their blood was derived from a common source. Charges say Weberg was the only nurse or physician at the hospital who treated both patients."
