'Takeover-Style' Armed Robbery At South Hill Bank; Police Hunt For Suspect

The robbery happened Tuesday night at a Bank of America along Meridian Ave East.

PUYALLUP, WA - Pierce County detectives are on the hunt for a man who committed a "takeover-style" armed robbery at a South Hill bank Tuesday night. The robber fled the bank on foot, but surveillance cameras captured high-quality images of his covered face.

The robbery happened around 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Bank of America branch near the Fred Meyer at the intersection of Meridian Avenue East and 176th Street East. The suspect walked into the bank brandishing a black handgun and ordered everyone inside to put their hands up and turn away from him.

The robber demanded cash from the drawer, stuffed it into a white bag, and fled from the bank to the southeast toward Fred Meyer, according to the Pierce County Sheriff's Office.

The robber is described as a white man in his 20s with a slender build. At the time of the robbery, he was wearing dark sweatpants and a green hooded sweatshirt.
