Today in Puyallup: 13 Block Parties Registered for National Night Out

Join the fun and come to one of the many neighborhood block parties happening for National Night Out on Tues., Aug. 6, 2013 in Puyallup.

National Night Out is bringing neighbors together in Puyallup this Tuesday, Aug. 6 as a sign of unity against crime.

The Puyallup Police Department, McGruff the Crime Dog and Central Pierce Fire and Rescue will be visiting 13 block parties across Puyallup tomorrow night, starting at 5 p.m.

National Night Out is designed to:

  • Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness
  • Generate support and participation in, local anticrime programs (such as Neighborhood Block Watch)
  • Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships
  • Send a clear message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
National Night Out, which is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch and co-sponsored by The Puyallup Police Department, will involve over 15,704 communities from all 50 states, United States territories, Canadian cities and military bases around the world. In all, over 37.5 million people are expected to participate in "America’s Night Out Against Crime."
