Woman Delivering Newspapers Shot, Detectives Seek Surveillance
Detectives are looking for surveillance footage captured during the timeframe when a newspaper carrier was shot Thursday morning.

PUYALLUP, WA — A 61-year-old woman was shot Thursday morning while delivering newspapers in the South Hill area, according to law enforcement.
The Pierce County Sheriff's Department said the woman noticed a white car following her as she made deliveries to neighborhoods along Canyon Road East, in the Summit area.
According to investigators, the woman said she stopped to make a delivery on the 8100 block of 50th Avenue East around 5:15 a.m. Detectives said the newspaper carrier heard someone yell toward her vehicle, then spotted an unidentified man standing near her car. According to the sheriff's department, the man fired his gun through the woman's passenger window, hitting her once in the arm.

The victim drove herself to a nearby gas station to get help and called 911.
A suspect has not been identified, and detectives are asking anyone with security cameras in the area to search for footage of the victim's silver Toyota Prius or the suspect's white sedan, driving between 5 a.m. and 5:30 a.m.

The shooting suspect was described as a white man with a medium build, wearing a green bandana over his face with a dark-colored jacket and pants.
