Woman Pleads Guilty In Slaying Of Pierce Co. Deputy
Brenda Troyer, 53, is facing charges related to the 2018 shooting death of Pierce County Deputy Daniel McCartney.

FREDERICKSON, WA — A 53-year-old woman who prosecutors say helped cause the death of former Pierce County Deputy Daniel McCartney pleaded guilt to a charge of criminal assistance this week, the News Tribune reports.
Brenda Troyer drove two men to a Frederickson home late at night Jan. 7, 2018, to commit a robbery, prosecutors say. McCartney responded to the scene and was shot and killed. Frank Pawul, 34, has been sentenced to life in prison for McCartney's murder. The second man, Henry M. Cardento, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound at the scene of the robbery, which happened along the 5100 block of 200th Street East.
McCartney died after a bullet hit him above his bulletproof vest, according to the sheriff's department.
