Young Woman Found Dead In Tacoma Apartment, Police Investigating

Officers are investigating her death as a homicide.

TACOMA, WA — Police are investigating after a woman was found dead inside a Tacoma apartment early Tuesday morning.

According to an update from the Tacoma Police Department, officers had been called to the apartment in the 7600 block of Pacific Ave for a welfare check.

Typically, officers will perform a welfare check if they've been called by friends or family who haven't heard from a resident in a while, and are concerned about their safety.

While checking the apartment, officers quickly found a 24-year-old woman unresponsive inside. She was pronounced dead shortly afterwards. Detectives and crime scene technicians were called to the apartment for a more thorough investigation, and say they believe the woman had been killed.

Little else about the incident has been released, though police say they will investigate the case as a homicide.
