The project is part of a broader push to expand services in mid- and south-county communities while the hospital district braces for federal Medicaid changes and looks for creative ways to fund mission-driven care.
   

• Utility drives broadband expansion into rural Jefferson County (ptleader.com) — Quilcene households now have access to publicly owned fiber internet that PUD officials say rivals big-city speeds, thanks to Jefferson County PUD's rapid rural broadband buildout. With more than 400 miles of fiber in place and 1,000 customers connected countywide, residents who already see a PUD network device on their home are urged to sign up and activate service.
