• Thurston Chronicle launches as hyperlocal weekly newspaper (chronline.com) — A new weekly Thurston Chronicle print edition is launching to expand hyperlocal coverage across the county, including dedicated reporting from Rainier through Nisqually Valley News editor Jacob Dimond. For Rainier residents, this means more consistent news and sports stories about your schools, neighbors, and local government, backed by a larger reporting team and stronger investment in community journalism.
• Rainier rocks Rochester on Allyson Ooms' 18th birthday (yelmonline.com) — Rainier High's volleyball team swept Rochester in straight sets, powered by senior standout Allyson Ooms on her 18th birthday and extending the Mountaineers' winning streak. After a chaotic week with limited practice and a power outage in Rainier, the team dominated on the road and now heads back home to face Napavine on Wednesday, Sept. 30.
