2 Major Puget Sound Highway Closures This Weekend
Closures affecting SR 520 and northbound I-5 near Seattle will likely cause major delays.

REDMOND, WA - Two major highway closures or lane reductions will make travel around Puget Sound tough this weekend. Add to that major sporting and community events, and we're heading into just another busy Puget Sound traffic weekend.
The biggest closure this weekend is the SR-520 floating bridge. WSDOT will close the bridge in both directions beginning 11 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday. Next, the repaving of northbound I-5 moves into the South Seattle area, taking over lanes just north of I-405. That work will last all weekend.
The repaving will also have an affect on the Southcenter Mall area. The northbound on-ramp from Southcenter Boulevard, a critical I-5 access point from the busy shopping area, will be closed all weekend. Northbound I-5 access from Interurban Avenue in Tukwila will also be closed.
