40 Laptops Stolen From Redmond School: Police Blotter

REDMOND, WA - A burglar broke into the Willows Preparatory School recently and stole 40 laptops from the school's IT room, according to Redmond police.

The break-in happened around 1:30 a.m. on Dec. 21 at the school along the 12200 lock of Redmond-Woodinville Road. The burglar smashed a window, entered the building, and then pried open a lock to get into the IT room.

Police were able to collect evidence at the scene are trying to track down the culprit.

Officers investigated an attempted break-in at the office of a local apartment complex. An employee came in to work after the weekend to find a window screen had been pried off and someone had tried to get in through the window. The unknown suspect was unsuccessful.

A woman called police after her pistol was stolen out of her car while it was parked outside a local bar. The suspect apparently gained access through a partially open window and broke open the locked glove compartment where the gun was stored. There is no suspect information at this time.

A man reported his revolver and some ammunition had been stolen out of his truck sometime during the previous day. There were no signs of forced entry on the vehicle which may have been left unlocked for a short period of time. The suspect is unknown.

A woman was scammed out of $2000 by someone posing as a secret shopper organization. The victim applied to be a mystery shopper through a website and was contacted by text by someone claiming to be a representative of the company. She was sent a check to cover her payment for the job and to buy several gift cards to use to conduct her shopping tasks. The victim complied and was directed to send the card numbers and details of her buying experience to the representative. Soon after she was notified that the check from the company had bounced. She also discovered the gift card numbers had already been used before she had a chance to complete the shopping tasks.

A thief stole a laptop out of a car parked in front of the victim's residence sometime overnight.

Police investigated a burglary after a man returned home to find his sliding glass door smashed. The suspect rifled through several parts of the house and made off with electronics. The thief has not been identified.

A woman was coerced into revealing personal information by a fraudster posing as a DEA agent on the phone. The victim received a call from the suspect who claimed she was being investigating for drug trafficking and there was a warrant out for her arrest. The caller demanded she confirm her date of birth, social security number and various banking information. Upon realizing the call was a scam, the victim reported it to police who advised her to freeze her credit to prevent fraudulent accounts being opened in her name. The suspect is not known.

A 29-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of shoplifting after an employee saw her leave the store with a cart full of video games and a stand mixer without attempting to pay for them.
