Your Top 3 New Year's Food Resolutions

I brainstormed the top 3 food resolutions ANYONE can add to their life! Read how simple it is to change your diet and become a healthier (and tastier!) person.

Happy 2012 Redmond! Last year I met so many wonderful people within the Redmond community and I am proud to be a local food blogger for the Redmond Patch website. Please look forward to more and exciting food-related blog posts from me.

You may have fitness, health, and happiness resolutions, but you NEED FOOD resolutions. Why? Well, we need food to survive and live. Making simple and small healthy changes to your diet is easy to do and will impact your health in a positive way.

MY TOP 3 FOOD RESOLUTIONS:

1) Use REAL FAT: Like extra virgin olive oil, real butter, sesame oil, or canola oil. Avoid PAM-sprays, margarine, and "butter-like" spreads. Your body digests real food better than fake food. On that note, make sure you use real sugar, too.

2) Cook one new recipe a month: Simple, yes. Ask your friends and family for their favorite meal to cook. Look up fun food blogs, read new cookbooks, and check out food magazines for inspiration. Does it have to be fancy and crazy? NOPE. Simple and easy, just the way food should be!

3) Add MORE (good stuff!) to your diet: It is always easier to "add" more to your diet than take "away." I suggest adding: fresh veggies, fresh fruit, water, and gluten-free grains (like quinoa). Snack on carrot sticks at work, eat a crisp pear while watching TV, drink water on your way to meet a friend, and replace high gluten grains with gluten-free grains when cooking your next meal.

Remember these resolutions throughout the year. Food should help your health GROW and make your life BETTER. Know food = Know life!

Happy Cooking! -SC
