At its December 2 meeting, Redmond City Council adopted updates to the City’s short-term rental (STR) code, clarifying licensing, compliance, and good-neighbor requirements for renting a home or unit for fewer than 30 nights. Whether you're currently hosting or thinking about starting, these changes may affect how you register, manage, and communicate with guests.

To support residents with the transition, the City of Redmond, OneEastside SPARK, and Airbnb are hosting a free, one-hour webinar for current and prospective hosts. City staff will outline the updated code, registration steps, and resources to help hosts understand and comply with the new requirements.

The webinar will also explore hosting opportunities tied to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which is expected to drive significant regional demand for visitor lodging. Speakers from Airbnb will share insights on market trends, responsible hosting, and preparing listings for major events. An Airbnb Superhost Ambassador will provide practical tips on pricing, preparing your space, and managing bookings during high-demand periods.

While the regulatory updates are specific to Redmond, the hosting strategies and event insights are relevant to residents across East King County and beyond.
