Celebrate 7-Eleven's Birthday With a Free Slurpee

You can grab your frozen treat at either of Redmond's two 7-Eleven stores.

Convenience store chain 7-Eleven is celebrating its 84th birthday today by giving away 5-million free 7.11-ounce Slurpees. The offer is good while supplies last and has a limit of one per customer.

“Even without the five million free Slurpee drinks, July is the biggest month of the year for Slurpee sales,” said Jesus Delgado-Jenkins, 7-Eleven’s senior vice president of merchandising, marketing and logistics in a news release. “What better drink for the hottest month of the year.”

The annual free Slurpee event has taken place since 2002 when 7-Eleven celebrated its 75th birthday. Two years ago 7-Eleven gave out 3-million Slurpees but recently increased its supply to 5 million free Slurpees to accommodate added publicity of the offer via social media.

More than 3,700,000 people “like” the Slurpee page on Facebook and up until today, slurpee.com had a banner running at the top of the page counting down to 7-Eleven Day. Also, Twitter has two pages to help promote the event, @slurpee and @7eleven.
